Fish Holds The Apera II has a 6 tonne blast freezer with the main 60 tonne hold below and RSW tanks are on the stern of the vessel. General Description: Steel commercial fishing vessel built circa 1972 by Australian Ship Building Industries, Fremantle. Dimensions are as follows: Length Overall 22.50 metres Beam 6.10 metres Draft 3.20 metres Layout of Vessel The hull is hard chine fitted with bilge keels. Fine bow entry broadening to a tansom stern. A high foredeck with wheelhouse forward. Fish hold aft of wheelhouse then engine room and finally steering compartment. The vessel is fitted with a fixed nozzle and a four blade prop. Rudder mounted behind nozzle. Extensive ultra sonic thickness testing has been carried out recently on this vessel showing the original thickness of the hull plating to be an average of 8.00mm. 2007 Refit A major refit was carried this year which comprised of: Vessel slipped, checked, hull anti-fouled and re zinced. Ultra scan steel thickness testing carried out. Any thin steel plating on the hull has been replaced together with a limited number of frames and rudder stock. Vessel has been completed painted. Fabricate and installed new engine room floor plates. Approximately 80 percent of the engine room pipework has been renewed, mainly bilge and sea water pipes. Fitted six new bollards. Designed, constructed and fitted new rolling chocks. Installed new watermaker. Reviewed all aspects of the vessel's operating and fishing machinery and equipment. Checked, overhauled and beefed up pumps, fitting, hydraulics and other sytems. Installed new Racor filters. Rebuilt main engine and installed new injectors. Installed new engine alarm system. Installed new engine room fans. Installed sophisticated new computer system.

Machinery Main Engine Cummins KT19 MD 335 hp @ 1800 rpm. Fully rebuilt engine approximately one month ago. Various pipework has been replaced and gate valves have been serviced and checked. A well maintained and easy to service engine room. Work has been made on bilge pumps, plumbing and new hose fittings. Replaced or fixing deck plates has also occurred. Gearbox Twin Disc MG514 fully rebuilt gearbox - refitted in 2007.

Domestic Accommodation Comprises: seven berths - spacious, dry and comfortable. Accommodation is located in the fore peak with 6 bunks in three cabins plus one double bunk.
